Association of Microfinance Institutions (AMFI) was established in December 2005. The initiative of its creation belongs to the four leading microfinance institutions: MFA Financial Fund "Bai Tushum and Partners" MCC "Kompanion Financial Group" MCC "FRONTIERS" MCC "FINCA"
MISSION Develop and support enabling environment, strengthen capacity for microfinance sector in Kyrgyzstan SLOGAN Maximum support for microfinance. GOAL MFI Association will lead and promote the development of the non banking sector of the Kyrgyz Republic by: providing opportunities for networking a strong representative voice in public and private sector educational opportunities for non bank financial insititutions (NBFIs) in order for them to reach growth and prosperity encouraging transparency at all levels in order to develop trust between the NBFIs and their clients.
VISION MFI Association will be a sustainable association, recognized by its' members, government authorities and financial partners as the most effective association for non-bank financial institutions in the Kyrgyz Republic. VALUES The hallmark values of MFI Association and its' members are: transparency excellence in product and service delivery equality for all members and their clients professionalism at every level.
Establishment of the Association of Microfinance Institutions demonstrates the maturity of the sector and its readiness to cooperate with a view to further development. Association of MFIs is a membership organization that always strives to: meet the needs of its member organizations through the presentation and protection of their rights and interests provide services to improve capacity and other specialized services demanded by the member organizations
The Association was established to coordinate issues on interaction of its members in the development of microfinance sector in the Kyrgyz Republic and to achieve the implementation of the Association of joint projects, as well as presentation, promotion and protection of common rights and interests of its members. Association of Microfinance Institutions is also the main venue for meetings of microfinance practitioners, to discuss various issues of concern sector, jointly develop solutions, as well as to exchange of information on relevant services provided by the Association. Membership is voluntary. It is divided into two categories according to size of the loan portfolio - the fulll membership and associated membership. Full member of Association can be micro-finance institutions which are: operating in the field of microcredit in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic; having good business reputation; recognizing the Charter of the Association, the notion of "micro-finance institutions" includes credit unions;
Association members are active practitioners of microfinance, which are in constant search for innovation and competitive environment for consumer products microfinance. For several years the Association has actively participated in all projects and activities organized by various stakeholders. The Association is a member of such major institutions as the Microfinance Center (Poland), National Alliance of Business Associations, International Business Club, and also included in the working groups of various projects of the National Bank of Kyrgyz Republic. The Association works closely with foreign projects, presented in the country. Currently, organizations like ICCO (Dutch Organization for Development Cooperation), GTZ (The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit) have provided financial support for training, as well as provide technical assistance to the Association.
